Look obviously superheroes are a NYC ‘thing’. Most of them live here or were originally drawn here. And the majority of superhero films are set here except when the action goes off-planet.
So of course there is a fully fledged Superhero Supply Co in Brooklyn because how else would superheroes get what they want when they want it. The store has a way of helping you deal with your nemesis, grab an invisibility cloak or powder when needed, get equipment to enable your x-ray vision and you will be provided with an undergound lair when you need one.
So powerful are the products provided that you are required to swear to only use the merchandize for good. Oh and if you doubt your capactity to stick to the straight and narrow, Loki are you listening…they have a way to help you purge your villainous self.
What is not immediately apparent about the store is it’s secret, though it wouldn’t be secret if you could immediately guess it, would it. At the back of the store through a cleverly concealed door is a different world, a tutoring center for children 6-18 doing creative writing programs and getting homework help.
It’s called ’826 national’ a non profit with centers around the nation, helmed by author Dave Eggars and supported by Key donors and in Manhattan by 2,300 volunteers, 5 staff members and some interns who help 2,000+ students a year.
Sales from the superhero supply store help the ’826′ program. And as well the store itself provides plenty of fuel for the imaginative minds of countless NYC kids of all ages. So go buy yourself a cape and test it’s whip in the wind on the cape testing machine
