Is there a child anywhere who didn’t grow up with a Dr Seuss book and thrill to it’s absurdity and subversive fun?
From ‘How the Grinch stole Christmas” to ‘Cat in The Hat’ to ‘Hop On Pop’ his books are children’s classics.
Dr Seuss seems so much a person in his own right, it’s a bit of a surprise to find out he had a ‘real’ name, Theodor Geisel.
And that Theodor had a very interesting life indeed though woven through with the madcap mischieviousness that typifies Dr Seuss’s books. The video gives a quick biography.
Now the New York Library is displaying a dozen of his hats form February 11th and the Animazing Gallery in SoHo is showing his paintings that include hats.
What a wonderful opportunity to be in touch with the ‘real’ Dr Seuss who showed his love of ligfe in many ways, one of which was having a collection of absurd hats.
