There’s several approaches to deciding your New York wardrobe for the coming year and seasons. You can look at what’s been on the runways at NYFW and decide what you can appropriate. If you take this approach and you’re a woman, see the top video and also note the trends, listed here, that have made into the fashion press. So in terms of clothing for women first the colors, this year they seem to be tangerine, black, white and red and black together.
Then the textures, furs, leather, or drifty materials with lots of movement. Wear boots either short or up to the top of your leg. Boots are definitely very, very big this year. Silhouettes have changed, instead of skin tight pants, the wide legged pant is in and big structured bags you carry in your hand or slung over your shoulder. And the nude make up look has been scrapped. It’s all smouldering dusky eyes and dark red lipstick. Framing the face is long, glistening hair caught up in topnots brought forward over the forehead or balancing further back on the head. If your hair is frizzy and short, there’s no reason to not embrace it but if you want to follow a hair trend then cover it up with a big wide headband another big trend this year.
There is however another approach to selecting clothing and it’s embodied in a website like Cladwell which is a blog for men. Men were all over the runways during NYFW wearing great clothes and when you think of street style in NYC, you know I think the men have it when it comes to unusual, way out clothing. Men really into fashion go way further out than most of the stylish women you see around New York. But Cladwell is going in another direction, bringing men up to date on trends but keeping it very real and at the level of the guy who doesn’t want to have to think too much about fashion as such but who wants to look well ‘trendy’. See their video on what will be on trend for men in 2015. They make solid recommendations on what men willb e wearing this year.
