Obviously the football, the gladiatorial combat, the quarterbacks dueling it out, the endless analysis before and after about who will win, who deserves to win and the outrageous flukes and missteps along the way, crowned by victory, victory, victory.
This year there is also the family gladiatorial contest between the Harbaugh brothers, the what will the parents do questions. And when it is all over those parents are clear winners no matter which side wins.
The half time show, is the football the excuse for it or is it the other way round? The video clip is of one of the all time great half time shows with Michael Jackson, reminding us all of the loss when he died.
Then of course the commercials, mostly exciting, very funny, always very creative and while designed to get our dollars always very, very entertaining.
And finally the chance to get together with friends and family, eat outrageously, drink like there is no tomorrow and cheer and insult and comment loudly and long about the glory of some players, the stupidity of others and then rest content or grumble about being robbed of a victory.
There is nothing quite like the passion, over the top excess and glorious predictability of the whole Superbowl spectacle. LIKE Superbowl and wish everyone a great day and a great game.
