Very interesting event in Brooklyn, last week. It was a Food and Beverage Trade show put on to highlight the cutting edge role Brooklyn food related businesses play in relation to the whole of America.
You see 12.5% of private sector jobs in Brooklyn are in food related businesses and it’s thought that is higher than anywhere else in the US and possibly in the world.
Which is great BUT the interesting story is Brooklyn Eats itself and what they demonstrated by how they put on their Trade Show, see Brooklyn Eats.
In the past Brooklyn Eats Trade Show had highlighted Restaurants only and the Trade show itself had also been restricted to people in the business.
This year, spurred by the winter 2012 Brooklyn Labor Market Review which showed how many Brooklynites were involved in food production, they switched to promoting food manufacturers and invited the public along as well.
THAT’s what’s impressive, the flexibility to go in new directions and grasp what is really happening. See the video, it’s about the Brooklyn Flea Food Vendors and that’s the spirit in Brooklyn that has spurred on the huge food emphasis in this Borough. New Yorkers generally are flexible and insightful and that’s what makes this city great. LIKE New Yorkers and their great qualities.
