The weather has been creating some difficulties for this coming Thanksgiving Day with storms along the East coast making travelling more difficult.
But now there’s a difficulty with Macy’s big balloons for the Parade. Will winds be too high for them to fly?
The rule is if steady winds exceed 23mph and wind gust exceed 34 mph then the balloons can’t be used.
These rules were set in 1997 when a balloon was set free by a wind gust and an onlooker was injured.
Right now expectation is it will be okay.
But the NYPD and Macy’s won’t be able to finally decide until the morning of Thanksgiving Day. Let’s hope the wind settles down and we see the big guys and gals fly. LIKE everyone in NYC being safe.
